AT and T’s debut of its new BlackBerry Bold smartphone has been delayed again because of ongoing testing.
The news comes from Research In Motion's CEO Mike Lazaridis late last Friday.
However, Lazaridis did acknowledge that “great scrutiny” exists for the product launch.
The new BlackBerry Bold is the first RIM unit with HSDPA networking and a high-end touchscreen.
Also, Research In Motion doesn’t want to experience the customer backlash that followed the recent Apple
iPhone 3G launch last July.
iPhone users now feel that Apple rushed to market and launched the iPhone way too fast, thereby delivering a
product with many security flaws, along with numerous other problems.
Given the increasingly computer-like complexity of modern smartphones, it’s possible that firm release
dates will become less common.
Or some people are now assuming that computer-like bug fixes and software patches for SmartPhones will become
more common as time progresses, and especially as the technology improves and matures in the next 12 to
18 months.
