MetroPCS says it added 249,000 new subscribers in the third quarter of 2008.

Overall, this brings its total to 4.8 million users, the no-contract wireless carrier announced late yesterday.

MetroPCS doesn't announce its actual earnings results until next month.

Its second-quarter results were just average, and slightly below analysts' expectations.

MetroPCS also said that it signed a six-year license to use Amdocs’ billing, operational support systems and customer service products.
