The Federal Communications Commission says that the E-911 Architecture Information System is now active.
The new system is designed to collect reports from local wireless carriers, mobile radio service operators
and VoIP providers in order to analyze emergency networks.
The Commission’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau said that reports must be filed by February 6,
2009.
Details for obtaining the necessary login information are available to wireless service providers online.
All reports are confidential.
Data will be used by the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials, National Association of State
9-1-1 Administrators and National Emergency Number Association, the FCC said.
