A new survey reveals that many mobile phone subscribers are using e-mail on their phones as much as
they use voice mail.
Isabelle Dumont, senior director of marketing at Seven Inc. was responsible for the survey.
The study was conducted last week with about 1,000 users globally.
The participants said they use voice mail and mobile e-mail equally as often.
The average number of e-mail accounts that participants accessed was 2.2, which is higher than what Seven
found when it did a similar survey back in April 2008. At that time, it was only 1.7.
The overall majority of respondents also said they were able to respond to email faster than before,
and 45 percent of respondants said mobile e-mail makes them more productive throughout their workday.
Seven's research included a range of subscribers, from those who work for large companies to the self-employed
and even university students.
Seven’s email solutions allow users to toggle back and forth between business and personal e-mail on the
same wireless device, enabling them to look at their work e-mail and then check their personal Yahoo, Google
or other email accounts elsewhere.
