T-Mobile has said that its previously announced BlackBerry Pearl Flip model 8220, which is the first BlackBerry device in a clamshell design, is now shipping in stores as of yesterday.

The quad-band wireless handset also includes an external display and Wi-Fi support.

It is available now in black and will soon be in red as well, T-Mobile officials said.

Manufactured by Research In Motion (RIM), the new handset is listed for $149.99 after rebates at T-Mobile.com.

It was previously code-named KickStart, but has since been renamed to the Pearl Flip 8220.
