According to many recent reports, both the G1 and Apple's iPhone are leading-edge in a new class of mobile
phones, and it would be interesting to compare and contrast both devices and let wireless users see them side
by side.
Well Bill Shrink launched a comparison site at www.billshrink.com that compares where consumers can view
each phone and their related service plans.
The website includes comparisons of features, such as keyboards, network speeds, Wi-Fi and GPS, as well as the
total costs of buying either one of the phones and the overall monthly fees.
Shrink also wanted to help users understand what they’re getting into if they sign a two-year contract.
The rate plans for the iPhone are quite a bit more expensive than for the G1, he noted.
Unlimited data and text messaging with the iPhone through AT&T is about $50 a month compared with about $35 for the same services
with T-Mobile USA and the G1 phone.
The www.BillShrink.com website offers a service free to end-users to compare cell phone plans to see what
best fits their needs and gets a commission when a consumer signs up with a service provider.
The site also asks people where they live so that it can show the best signal strength.
T-Mobile’s 3G network is in fewer markets than AT&T’s, so there’s that to consider as well.
The site currently doesn’t get involved in the applications that are available, but the company might add that if consumers express
enough demand.
