Clearwire has confirmed that it is getting ready for a widespread launch of its new 4G Wi-Max service some time in December.

The move will further expand its 4G service into several new markets including Philadelphia, PA., and Chicago, IL.

Clearwire plans to make 4G Wi-Max services available in more than twenty-five markets covering over thirty million wireless users by December.

The wireless provider says it will be expanding its current networks in Philadelphia, Chicago and Seattle as part of the launch.

Clearwire also said its customers would be able to buy new 4G devices, but didn't provide any details beyond USB modems and Intel notebooks.

Additionally, Comcast and Sprint have also said they will soon launch individually-branded 4G service in Philadelphia and Chicago as well over the next several weeks.

Clearwire, Comcast and Sprint will all begin selling in the Seattle area as well before 2009 is over.

Separately, Clearwire and Sprint also announced similar launches for next month on their respective Clear and Sprint 4G services in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina and then in Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio, Texas.

4G service will also be available from both companies in Honolulu and Maui, Hawaii by the time 2010 rolls in.
