According to comScore, on average, the U.S. appear to have caught up with Western Europe in the
overall adoption of 3G technology.
A little over 28.35 percent of American mobile subscribers having 3G devices were registered, compared with
under 28.33 percent that were used in the largest countries in Europe.
The only individual major European countries exceeding the U.S. in 3G penetration were Italy and Spain,
where overall market adoption is now 38.3 percent and 37.2 percent respectively.
The number of American subscribers with 3G-enabled devices has grown 80 percent, to 64.2 million during
the past year, comScore reports.
Overall, the market seems to have responded positively as mobile vendors have rolled out their enhanced 3G
networks and a new crop of 3G-enabled devices.
