Zi Corp. is getting help from Sony Ericsson, with an estimated 32.4 percent increase in revenues from shipments of Zi’s predictive text software.

The help is a result of a new arrangement in which Sony Ericsson agrees to expand its existing licensing agreements with Zi, and by greatly facilitating some of the clauses in the usage license.

Under terms of the new agreement, Zi Corp. will continue supplying Sony Ericsson with both predictive text and handwriting recognition technology.

According to a press release published late yesterday, Sony Ericsson intends to offer Zi user input and usability technology on the majority of its wireless handsets.

In August, Zi announced it had renewed a license agreement with Nokia to provide eZi-Type and eZi-Text for a multi-year period.

Zi has recently been embroiled in a patent dispute with Nuance Communications after it rejected a takeover attempt by Nuance.
