Skyfire says that version 0.8 of its new mobile Web browser is now available to the general public.
The new browser is made for Windows Mobile devices and promises a desktop-like experience.
It supports Ajax, Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime and Windows Media.
Skyfire CEO Nitin Bhandari says “leaving private beta is a huge step for us. We have accomplished our
goals of the private beta launch to listen and then improve it.
Demand for Skyfire has been extremely strong and we are excited to bring this more evolved product to more devices and to a greater number of users.”
Among the browser's new features is Super Bar, which is similar to the Awesome Bar feature in the Mozilla
Firefox desktop browser, combining URL entry and search into a single toolbar.
Other new features that are worth mentioning in the public version let users share Internet content through
text messages, zoom in on pages and download some content.
Skyfire's newer version 0.8 will also soon be available for Symbian S60 phones, company officials said.
Skyfire has plenty of competition, including several proxy-browser approaches and the Mozilla group
itself.
